And how do companies qualify to be on Redjellyfish.com?
This question comes up often, and it's difficult to give a simple answer. Obviously the standards for a company that sells organic fruit need to be different than the standards for a company that makes recycled building supplies. We review each candidate with a skeptical eye, and in general we use these guidelines:
- ORGANIC: We have found that when a company says "Natural" it means almost nothing! We want to see organic, and certified organic is even better.
- GENETICALLY MODIFIED ORGANISMS (or
G.M.O.'s): We are opposed to genetically modified products, and to the best of our knowledge no items in our directory contain G.M.O.'s. Of course all certified organic items are free of
GMO's.
- RECYCLED CONTENT: We find the products with the highest recycled content available.
- CRUELTY FREE:
We screen every item in our database to make sure that all products have NOT been tested on animals.
- SUSTAINABLY HARVESTED:
All of the wood products in our site are either sustainably produced, reclaimed, or recycled.
There are other considerations that come up that cannot be categorized in this short description, for example, we would want to know if an
eco-tour operator is sensitive to the surrounding ecosystem and the indigenous people.
While we work hard to ensure the quality of our directory, we appreciate and invite your suggestions, and recommendations. If you ever see a product or company in our web site that you feel doesn't deserve to be there, feel free to let us know and we promise to review it immediately.
