Despite their amazing beauty and diversity, the rainforests are being destroyed at the rate of a football field per second.  That's right -  we loose over 50 million acres of rainforest every year.  At this rate they will be almost completely wiped out in the next 40 years.
 

Why is that so important?
Rainforests cover only 2% of the planet's land area, yet contain over half of the world's species. They produce 20% of the world's oxygen and are the source of important medicines, and many well known foods such as chocolate, vanilla, oranges, bananas, and others. They are also the home for many indigenous tribes that rely on them for survival.


So, what can you do about it?
