The average person spends 24 years of
his life sleeping -- so make the most of it! Ensure that your sleeping environment is optimal. A quiet space with a good bed , fresh air and the ability to block light out is ideal. Cut the toxins out of a third of your life, get a mattress and sheets made from organically grown cotton, and avoid anti-wrinkle treated bedding. Get 7-8 hours of sleep per night, and try to wake up at the same time every morning. Sleeping in to catch up for lost sleep is not good. Try to go to bed earlier the next night instead.
Eat a balanced varied diet... There are many diets and recommendations of what and how to eat for weight loss, weight gain, heart disease, and diabetes among other. Within those guidelines, eat lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. Avoid highly processed and refined products like white bread, flour and sugar - go for whole grains. Avoid getting into a rut and try to eat as many different foods as you can to ensure you get all the nutrients you need.
Stay hydrated. Drink plenty of water every day. You should avoid being thirsty, because by that time you are already de-hydrated. Make water your primary beverage for meals, and use any other beverages, like juice, beer, or wine for flavor, rather than to quench your thirst.

Chill out! Try to minimize stress in your life. Plan ahead for what you can, and limit your commitments so you don't try to do too much. Prioritize! Don't stress over things that are beyond your control, like traffic or delayed air planes. After a stressful situation has passed, try to learn from it. Analyze your reaction, and figure out how to deal with something like that in the future. Avoid procrastination - which in the end usually leads to stress, and take care of important things right away.
A good laugh, may make you live longer. But if nothing else, it will make you feel better. A good belly laugh will relax and rejuvenate you like nothing else! Try to see things from the light side, learn a few jokes, see funny movies and seek out other things that may make you laugh.
Exercise in moderation. You don't have to aspire to become a pro athlete...but make sure you get your body moving every day. Walk as much as you can. Hit the trails with your mountain bike, play catch, or go for a run. Whatever you choose, be committed to getting some sort of physical activity every day.
Do something for yourself at least every week. Whether it is the luxury of peace and quiet for an hour while reading a book, a nice warm bath, watching the sunset, or sunrise, or planting in your garden. It doesn't matter what it is, as long as you enjoy it, and do it without a specific goal in mind other than your own enjoyment.
