PROFILE:
SEVENTH
GENERATION
By Andy Summa
Seventh Generation has long been a good friend to environmentalists. Though now there are several paper and cleaning products that boast recycled materials and non-toxic ingredients, Seventh Generation was the first company to provide such a wide array of environmentally safe household products.
With distribution in thousands of natural product and grocery stores nationwide, Seventh Generation has become synonymous with products that protect your health and the planet. They’ve also won more than 15 major awards that recognize their efforts to preserve the environment. The Burlington, Vermont-based company does not test its products on animals.
Their cleaning supplies have improved steadily over the years to become some of the most effective cleaning agents on the market. Non-toxic, phosphate-free and biodegradable dish and laundry products are available in both natural scents and unscented.
Toilet bowl, glass and surface cleaners are among the most popular Seventh Generation cleaners, but the new sanitizers are also moving quickly from the shelves. The new products kill more than 99.9 percent of household germs, without dangerous chlorine.
Burlington, Vermont-based Seventh Generation sells non-chlorine bleached, 100-percent recycled paper towels, bathroom and facial tissues, as well as napkins and paper plates. Plastic trash bags in 13-, 30- and 33-gallon sizes are made from recycled plastic.
They also offer a full line of light bulbs and baby wipes.

SHOWER
SAFELY
While
chlorinated drinking water exposes you to chlorine, a
potentially more dangerous source is the shower! Chlorine
is a strong poison that chemically bonds to the protein in
our hair and skin, destroying its natural ecology. It can
severely affect the skin, and make your hair difficult to
manage. Chlorine gas coming from steam can even irritate
your eyes and your respiratory tract. This shower filter
from Green
Home sports this clear polycarbonate "see -
through" filter and housing, it lets you watch the
filter as it works to see how much sediment is being
trapped, and alert you to when it needs to be changed. It
is the first shower filter ever with this feature.
It also comes with chlorine test kit for "before and
after" comparison. 1st in industry for any shower
filter. more
info
Did you know… ...that the
recently banned pesticide Dursban, was one of the chemicals
used in the production of conventionally grown cotton?
Conventional cotton uses more insecticides than any other
crop. Which is why it is so important to support organic cotton
farmers. Ahhh
- spa heaven.
