1) Get refrigerator double duty, when you use your refrigerator to thaw frozen foods. It cools your fridge and you can lower the setting a notch to keep the food at safe temperatures while thawing. Use the sun and a clothes line to dry your clothes. Not only does it save energy, it is easier on the clothes too.
2) A cool winter night in bed. Lower your thermostat to 55 degrees or lower at night. Not only will you get a better nights sleep, but you save energy too.
3) You can save, up to 38% of current energy costs by switching from incandescent to fluorescent light-bulbs.
4) Do your grilling duty to spare the air. Gas grills are nicer to the environment than charcoal grills.
5) Get Audited. Not as by IRS, but your local power company. Many power companies do audits on you home to identify ways you can lower your energy bill - and deplete less resources.

6) Fill'em up! Make sure your washer and dishwasher only running with full loads.
7) Lower the temperature on your water heater from 140 to 120 degrees. Not only will it put an end to you scolding yourself in the shower, it will also save energy.
8) Be conscious, and turn the lights and appliances off when you are not using them.
9) Multitask! When cooking, use your oven for several things at once. Plan ahead. For your next picnic, you can also boil the potatoes for the potato salad with the eggs for the egg salad in the same pot - just time it right.
