"I have two homes: one on an island in Puget Sound where I can recycle and compost almost everything; the other, a condo in San Mateo, CA where I have no opportunity to compost.
I save all my eggshells in a paper-bag so they can dry out, periodically crushing then to save room. I use them in my potted bulbs - Amaryllis, tulips, crocus - and the rest I take back to Washington where I sprinkle them among my bulbs outside. I haven't observed them deterring the slugs at all, but they help with mulching and slowly break down to feed the bulbs.

Instead
of throwing away dryer lint, put it outside where the
birds can find it. They will use it to build their
nests!
The birds will appreciate the soft material to
insulate and line their nests and it will also
conserve their their body energy they would use to
search for building materials on their own."

Additional comments:
This is along the same lines as uses for dryer lint. I
always cut my Husbands
hair and while cutting it outside on the deck once, I
noticed the birds picking it up and flying away with it. I left it
there and watched the birds carry it to the nests they were building.
Now ,after cutting my Husbands hair i always put the cut hair out in the
yard for nesting material. The birds love it and my Husband thinks it's
pretty neat to have his hair in all those nests!

A
word of caution : ... Make sure dryer lint, or hair
has not been processed with fabric softener or hair conditioners
or other harsh chemicals or perfumes, which may be
harmful to birds..

"you don't need to send old toilets to the
dump, they make wonderful planters, on the porch or in
the yard, i have several"
